Support Thimar Help Lebanon
Dear partners and friends,
A fragile ceasefire has mostly ended the destructive war in our country, but Lebanon continues to face major challenges and needs.
Though many citizens have returned to their homes, nearly 180,000 people remain displaced as airstrikes continue to hit parts of southern Lebanon and citizens are forbidden from returning to dozens of villages.
The past several years have been some of the most difficult in Lebanon’s modern history. Daily life had already become increasingly difficult for most people even before the war between Hezbollah and Israel erupted in October 2023. Our country was already reeling from political unrest and deadlock, a dire economic crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic, and a massive explosion at Beirut’s port.
Through these difficult challenges, Thimar has remained committed to its mission to support churches, both here in Lebanon and across the Arab world. Our hope has been in the gospel and its eternal message. It is a message and a hope that we have shared for many years and that we continue to share through word and action.
As a fragile ceasefire holds, we continue to pray for peace in our country and across the region. Furthermore, we seek to continue working, grateful that God had made us part of His plan in Lebanon and the wider Middle East.
During the height of the war this year, we established this emergency fund to raise money for the various needs that arose as a result of the conflict. With thousands of people still displaced and entire villages destroyed or without essential services, those needs have not vanished, and neither have the emotional, psychological, and spiritual needs.
To address all of these needs and challenges, we continue to collect donations for our emergency fund.
During the war, Thimar and its ministries used money provided to the fund to respond to various needs. Some examples include:
- Our school, Beirut Baptist School (BBS), provided hundreds of mattresses, blankets, and pillows to centers hosting displaced people. In addition to other essential aid like medicine, it also distributed hundreds of daily meals.
- Our church plant and discipleship ministry, Salt & Light, is provided several hundred meals every week to multiple centers and churches across Lebanon that were helping and supporting displaced people. Salt & Light also provided hundreds of blankets, pillows, mattresses, canopies, and medicines.
- Our seminary school, Arab Baptist Theological Seminary (ABTS), hosted more than 250 people from across the country who had to flee their homes. It provided them with accommodation and three daily hot meals free of charge.
- Our relief and development arm, Middle East Revive and Thrive (MERATH), distributed thousands of blankets, pillows, mattresses, ready-to-eat food foxes, hygiene items, and gas bottles through local partners.
- Our Arabic publishing house, Dar Manhal al Hayat, provided booklets and online resources to share the gospel and help with people’s spiritual and emotional needs.
- Our special needs center, SKILD, provided psychosocial support through group and individual counseling for dozens of children and more than 100 adults.
If you feel led to support us during these challenging times, please consider making a donation by filling out the information on the right.
Thank you for standing with us as we seek to be a beacon of hope.
