At Thimar-LSESD, our very name, “Thimar” (ثمار), meaning fruits in Arabic, reminds us daily of the sacred calling to bear the fruits of faith. Yet bearing fruit is not a product of mere effort or secret evangelistic formula.
For almost a year, we’ve been asking if there will be a full-scale war in Lebanon. Today, it seems we have gotten much closer to one.
For the past ten months, the Christian village has been caught in the crossfire of an escalating conflict between Hezbollah and Israel… Laudi and Elias lived on the outskirts of Rmeich, making them particularly vulnerable. A few days after fighting began in October, the couple decided to leave.
The driving motivation behind Thimar’s work is to strengthen the witness of the church. Yet, we often find the church emerging in the most unexpected places, among people we never imagined would follow Jesus.
For the past several months, Israeli jets have repeatedly done this as fighting has escalated between Israel and Hezbollah. But these flyovers were different. They were more aggressive and loud.
